This past Sunday we had a chance to visit the small town of Mazsalaca, near the Estonian border. We got on a bus here in Riga at about 7:30 am for the 3 hour ride. Chuck spoke in the little Baptist Church which is pastored by one of the students at the Pastoral Institute. We loved the way the babies were part of the choir.
I enjoyed getting acquainted with the choir director, Ineta.

Here's Chuck with one of the church families.

After lunch the pastor, Valters, and his wife, Ilze, took us on a walk in the beautiful woods where many tourists come to visit. There was one especially unusual tree with an exposed root system. It's called the Werewolf Pine and if you go through it bottom first with no clothes on during the full moon on a Thursday, you will turn into a werewolf. We decided not to try it.

Here we are with Valters, Ilza and their sweet little girl, Rebeka. We had a delightful day with them.
